Happiness as a state of mind.

Hey stunner, I hope that this week was kind to you, and you achieved a personal goal! this week the goal I have achieved is I went to the gym and met my goal of working out for the week. This small goal made a couple of days this week a lot easier, I woke up and when I looked in the mirror, I saw something that I was happy with. I could see my progress, both physically and the way I was acting I could see how far I’ve come.

A long time ago someone said that happiness is a state of mind and not a destination. This has been a really hard concept to grasp because I think that most of us keep thinking that when reach a certain goal like losing that weight or finishing your degree then you’ll be happy but in reality, you’re happy when you decide to feel happy.

Sometimes I’m really good at remembering this and wake up and decide that I’m going to have a good day but other days no matter what happens I focus on the negative.

I know I shouldn’t feel like that but it’s a hard mentality to get out of especially when its one that you have been stuck with for as long as I can remember.

What is happiness?

Happiness is subjective. And to me it changes every day depending on My emotional state. Happiness is best defined as that feeling that comes over you when you know life is good and you can't help but smile. It's the opposite of sadness. Happiness is a sense of well-being, joy, or contentment. But it has many different meanings for each person.

This definition is hard to understand because describing and explaining our feelings especially about a subject that is as well-known but also as vague as happiness.

It’s so hard to talk about this topic because of how hard it is to put into words.

What makes me happy?

Personally, I feel happy when I’m sitting in bed cuddling my partner.

I am happy when I play with a puppy. (I bloody love puppies)

I am happy when I feel confident.

I am happy when I am doing something I love (singing)

I am happy when I am being creative, it makes me feel free and as peace.

All of these are things that I have tried to implement into my everyday life. I have started a creative project that when I feel slightly unhappy or even just meh then I can work on it. I cuddle every night before bed I can always feel my mind and body relax and feel happy. I sing almost constantly; this annoys a lot of people and a lot of people ask me to stop but it makes me happy and so I’ll continue to do it.

I have been trying new things to put together a routine for morning and night time. Including a skincare routine (watch out for my Instagram for updates) I’m trying to find the best time of day to work out and fit in my studies and eventually a job in.

So here is your weekly check in:

o What makes you happy?

o What can you do everyday to decide to be happy?

o What is your definition of happiness?

o What do you struggle with the most?

o Have you started your journey?

o What is the biggest step that you have taken?

I hope your week is amazing and that your journey is getting you to where you want to be.

And remember happiness is a state of mind not a destination.
